The sand and shingle beach of Turunc is the proud holder of the Blue Flag, an annual award given to the cleanest sea water and beaches. Tightly controlled criteria are determined by the Foundation for Environmental Education based in Copenhagen.

It is an international and powerful tool in achieving excellence in swimming water quality, beach management, hygiene and life safety.
